This course is for candidates who are existing first aiders and who currently hold valid first aid at work certificate. In order to retain your first aid at work qualification first aiders must attend this 2 day refresher course before their current FAW certificate expires.

Aim: First Aid at Work is a two-day course approved by the Health and Safety Executive. It covers primary and secondary care and the treatment and management of medical emergencies in the work place.

This 6-hour First Aid Course meets the recommendations by the HSE for Appointed Persons in the workplace.

Major aspects of emergency care are covered in this course. Students learn in a friendly environment how to keep people alive whilst waiting for the emergency services to arrive.

The Appointed Persons course is suitable for:

• Small companies
• Offices and shops with less than 50 employees
• Light engineering, assembly work etc. with less than 50 employees
• Employees who travel or work off site
• Self-employed mechanics, engineers etc.
• Work with dangerous machinery or construction with less than 5 employees

There is no assessment on this course.

Location: Courses are normally held at the employees premises or at an off site venue.

Duration: Course is minimum of 6 hours with 1 hour recap and addition subjects to meet the specific requirements within the work environment.

A Health and Safety Executive recognized certificate will be awarded on completion of the course.

Aim: The course is to provide participants with a sound knowledge and understanding for first aid procedures while working with children and babies, gaining the ability to recognise and treat various childhood conditions and illnesses. This will be of particular interest to Child Minders and Crèche Assistants, Playgroup Personnel and anyone responsible for youth organizations.

Location: Courses are normally held at the employees premises or at an off site venue.

Duration: Course is minimum of 10 hours.

A Health and Safety Executive recognized certificate will be awarded on completion of the course.

Aim: The course is to provide participants with a sound knowledge and understanding for first aid procedures while working within the sports industry. Ideal for sports managers, referees and gym personnel.
